Chandrapur : With the aim that no one should be deprived of the right to vote, the names of the voters should be properly included in the voter list, various activities were implemented through the district administration. He was speaking at a press conference held at the Collector’s Office in connection with the Maharashtra Assembly General Election – 2024. Chief Executive Officer Vivek Johnson, District Superintendent of Police Mummaka Sudarshan, Sub-District Election Officer Subhash Chaudhary were present on this occasion.

The Collector further said, the district administration has started various activities under the sweep to increase the voting percentage. In this, public awareness among young voters, competitions every week, prize competitions through lucky draw, Prabhat round, organizing various rallies and public awareness activities will be implemented in schools and colleges.

Total number of voters in the district: Chandrapur district has six assembly constituencies which include 70-Rajura, 71-Chandrapur, 72-Ballarpur, 73-Brahmpuri, 74-Chimur and 75 Warora. There are total 18 lakh 43 thousand 540 voters in the district which includes 9 lakh 36 thousand 418 male voters, 9 lakh 7 thousand 74 female voters and 48 other voters. In Rajura Assembly Constituency (Male Voters – 167427, Female Voters – 156780, Total – 324209), Chandrapur Assembly Constituency (Male Voters – 188140, Female Voters – 184280, Total – 372455), Ballarpur Assembly Constituency (Male Voters – 158071, Female Voters – 153017, Total – 311094), Bramhapuri Assembly Constituency (Male Voters – 137589, Female Voters – 137632 Total – 275221), Chimur Assembly Constituency (Male Voters – 140670, Female Voters – 138911, Total – 279581), and Varora Assembly Constituency (Male Voters – 140670, Female Voters – 138911, Total – 279581). Total number of polling stations as well as EVMs and VVPATs in the district: 344 plus 1 polling stations in Rajura Assembly constituency, 390 in Chandrapur assembly constituency, 366 in Ballarpur, 319 in Bramhapuri, 314 in Chimur and 343 in Warora assembly constituency totaling 2076 plus 1 polling stations in the entire district. Also, a total of 4636 ballot units, 2620 control units and 2787 VVPATs are available in the district.

Nomination: It is mandatory for the interested candidate to complete the nomination letter (form B) along with the affidavit (form 26) for the Vidhan Sabha general election. A candidate can submit maximum four nomination papers. Also a candidate can contest election from maximum two constituencies at a time. It is mandatory to deposit Rs 10 thousand in cash along with the nomination paper for general candidates and Rs 5 thousand in cash for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes category candidates.

Expenditure limit for the candidate: The candidate is required to maintain a maximum expenditure limit of Rs.40 lakhs during the election period. It is mandatory to give daily account of expenses incurred during the election period and it is mandatory to submit the complete account of expenses along with an affidavit within 30 days from the declaration of results.

Various rooms operational in the district: In line with the Assembly General Elections, Grievance Redressal / Voter Help Center, One Window Room, Control Room, Model Code of Conduct Room as well as Voter Helpline Toll Free Number 1950 have been operationalized at Collectorate Office, Chandrapur as well as at all Assembly Constituency level.

Appeal to use C-VGIL: Citizens can file a complaint online through the C-VGIL app in case of any kind of complaint related to violation of code of conduct during the election process. Such complaints will be resolved within 100 minutes of receipt. Also online e-sms for illegal cash, liquor, drugs, freebies etc. seized by various squads/systems within Chandrapur district. This system will be used.
