On the occasion of the launch of Chief Minister Majhi Shukla, Sunder Shukla initiative implemented by the Education Department, the Governor of Maharashtra state Hon. Ramesh Bais suggested changing the morning timings of schools to ensure that children get enough sleep. Hon. After this instruction of the Governor, the entire education sector was stirred up. Not only from the education sector, but from all sections of the society, the governor’s suggestion started getting support, especially the parents demanded to change their children’s school in the morning. Majority of parents support this demand. Medical experts as well as child psychologists have said that children’s schooling is in the morning and they do not get enough sleep, which affects the health of children. In our state, all the city schools fill in two sessions. Since the primary and secondary schools are held in the same building, the primary is held in the morning session and the secondary school is held in the afternoon session. Morning primary school timings are 7 am to 12 am and secondary school timings are 12 noon. 15 to 5.45 pm. Primary school children are in the age group of five to ten and Kindergarten and Anganwadi children are in the age group of three to five. The age group of children in secondary school is eleven to sixteen. Children of younger age have to wake up at 6 am as school starts at 7 am. These children wake up crying when they wake up because they haven’t had enough sleep. Waking up these children from sleep is a great task for parents. Many children come to school with a tired face due to insufficient sleep. Not getting enough sleep also affects the study process of students. Medical experts say that children should get at least six to eight hours of full sleep. Today’s children do not sleep as well because of the changed lifestyle. The present school time was also earlier but then this question did not arise because then parents along with children used to sleep within ten but in the current changed lifestyle only parents are awake till twelve o’clock so children also do not sleep till twelve o’clock i.e. they do not get enough sleep. Even if parents try to go to bed early, it’s late, so children also go to bed late, so they don’t get enough sleep. It is advisable to change the school timings of primary school children so that they can get enough sleep and maintain good health as well as not hinder their learning process. Schools in rural areas are open from 10 to 5 in the morning, but in urban areas schools cannot be held during this time because primary and secondary classes are held in the same building in the city, so one way out is to hold middle schools in the morning session and primary schools in the afternoon session. . If the primary school timings are changed to afternoon session, the primary school children will also get enough sleep and therefore their health will be better. As middle school students are older, they may wake up earlier in the morning and go to bed earlier if they are told to go to bed earlier, resulting in adequate sleep for both age groups.
