Out of sight means out of mind, this is the biggest truth of the entertainment industry and staying away from TV is a big risk for any actor. But, Surbhi Shukla took this risk for growth. And now, she is returning to television after four years with her latest show ‘Shaitaani Rasmein’ on Star Bharat.
Revealing what kept Surbhi Shukla away from television, she admitted, “I know it is a big risk to stay away from the screen for a long time, especially when new faces are making headlines every day. But, I I always wanted to do some South films and I got some time for it. After 2019, during Covid, our industry was going through a recession and many actors were not getting much work opportunities. So, I I decided to come out of my comfort zone and try South films. Luckily, I got two films, one is titled ‘Rani’ and the title of the other has not been announced yet. I have already shot for both the films. I have been waiting for a good project. I was always ready for non-lead roles too, but the only condition for me to take up this project was that the story and the character Bono should be strong. And then, I got the chance to star. A call came from India for ‘satanic rituals’.”
Surbhi Shukla, who rose to fame with the role of Rohini in ‘Devon Ke Dev Mahadev’, has worked in shows like Balaji Telefilms – Mahabharat, CID, Aahat, Jai Baharang Bali, Mahima Shani Dev Ki, Betiyaan, Akbar Ka Bal Birbal, Suryapuran, ‘Buddha’. Have also done. ‘Maharaja Ki Jai Ho’ was Surbhi Shukla’s last show on television.
‘Shaitaani Rasmein’ is not only Surbhi Shukla’s comeback show on television, but it also marks her reunion with Nikhil Sinha after ‘Devon Ke Dev Mahadev’. Talking about the show, Surbhi said, “My last show was ‘Maharaja Ki Jai Ho’ on Star Plus itself, and this will be my super-duper comeback as it will be produced by Star and Nikhil Sinha’s banner ‘Triangle Film Company’. ‘. I have worked with Nikhil Sinha before and I love his team and his positivity while working. Even the story of the show is really good. It will take you back to your childhood. Because it is similar to the supernatural and ghostly stories of our grandmothers.”
“I play the character of Aarohi, who is the elder daughter-in-law in the family. In the show, all of us family members, including me and my husband, have our own desires to fulfill, and they have reasons to perform all the ‘satanic rituals’. As the elder daughter-in-law, I have a good relationship with my brother-in-law, who is going to get married in the show. I support and try to help him and his newly married wife in setting up a family. As the story progresses, you will see more layers to my character, which I don’t want to share right now. Let’s let it remain a mystery for now,” Surbhi said while elaborating on her character.
